I am Barbara Jinks – Scottish/Australian engineer and fiddle player, mother of a budding actor, wife of a wonderful German man (hence the move to Bad Godesberg) and dedicated environmentalist, working in the renewable energy sector. I joined The Bonn Players when I moved here in 2017, as they were active in the community (pre-Corona days!) and were instantly welcoming and friendly to me. The many activities they organise allow me to stay involved with my love of poetry, writing, theatre and organising community activities. It is also a godsend for me to be able to natter and Kaffeeklatsch in my mother tongue from time to time.
I am a keen advocate of the values that community theatre brings – I believe it shares important messages, offers insights into human nature and can bring relief and comedy to the audience. The Bonn Players puts on high-quality productions and has been the catalyst for many acting careers, both amateur and professional.
I love being on the committee where I coordinate archiving our records, developing our pathway towards more sustainable activities, collecting content for the website and producing a book to celebrate The Bonn Players’ 40th year of performances in this year 2021.
