Peter Quilter is a West End and Broadway playwright whose plays have been translated into 27 languages and performed in over 40 countries. His first play was an all-female comedy Respecting Your Piers and he followed this with a musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost. He is best known for his Broadway play End of the Rainbow about Judy Garland, and the West End comedy Glorious! about the amateur opera singer Florence Foster Jenkins. Peter has twice been nominated for the Olivier Award (Best New Comedy and Best New Play) and his Broadway debut was nominated for 3 Tony Awards.

Duets is a set of four vignettes (short plays) that explores the lighter side of romance and relationships through four sets of characters and four brief windows on the complexities of love. Jonathan & Wendy are on a blind date. Can they forget their past failures, ignore a slightly inaccurate personal profile and, despite being older than most, finally stumble upon love? Barrie is wealthy, successful, handsome and single. Janet is his vibrant, intelligent and highly capable secretary whom he can’t manage without. With such busy lives and no time to find “that special someone”, could the answer to their loneliness be that obvious? Shelley & Bobby are marking the end of their Spanish holiday with a cocktail-fuelled fiesta. It also happens to be the end of their marriage! Are they being bizarrely mature or unbelievably stupid, and who gets custody of the fish? For Angela, this wedding is third time lucky and she is relying on her brother, Toby, to make sure the day goes perfectly. Will they overcome the barrage of bad omens and last minute nerves to give her that “Happy Ever After” moment? Since it’s premiere in 2009 at the Ensemble Theatre in Sydney Australia, Duets has been performed in over 20 countries. It is currently in production in Canada, USA and the UK as well as here in Bonn.
