Born in the US to German parents I grew up in Franconia. Since early on, I have had a great passion for Britain, the US and acting. I was a member of the school drama group and at Bamberg University I was a member of the English Department’s drama group. The part of the Duchess of Malfi in a comedy revue earned me the nickname “The Duchess” floating onto the stage in an evening gown – on a skateboard.
Faced with the prospect of working as a secondary teacher for English and Russian for the rest of my life, I decided to audition for drama school. In 1994 I was admitted to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. What a terrific experience it was! I learned, however, that I needed more security than life as an actress could offer. Returning to Germany I finished my teacher training and started working in Stuttgart with a consulting firm.
After my move to Bonn in the year 2000, I was pointed to The Bonn Players and have been a member since 2003. I already served on the committee between 2005 and 2007 and made my first stage appearance with the Players as Martha Culver in S. Maugham’s “The Circle” in November 2005. Things then abruptly changed when our twins came along in 2006! With now three young children and an almost full-time job in education administration, I cut back my involvement with the Players considerably.
The Bonn Players are a very talented group of people from many different walks of life and parts of the world. As all my children are of age now and preparing to leave the nest, I jumped at the opportunity to get more involved again! I am looking forward to serving on the committee and providing support wherever I can, especially to new members. And who knows – it may even be time for me to return to the stage!
